How to lower ghrelin levels to maintain your ideal weight.

The most chronic and yo yo dieters have imbalanced hormones, so it is almost impossible to maintain their ideal bodyweight.

In fact, weight loss is easy when you are on a Diet, but maintaining an ideal weight is the hardest part.

Have you ever experienced losing bodyweight by doing a calorie restricted diet and exercising? But the moment you slow down exercising and stop dieting, you gained it all back?

Some people gained a few extra pounds on top of the original bodyweight.

I know it is very discouraging to keep training and dieting for endless weight loss.

Is there any solution to keep it off?

The solution is keeping your metabolism up.

If you are stuck in the old theory which is “Eat less and Move more”, you are already in a vicious cycle! The more you reduce caloric intake the more your metabolism will slow down. In order to get out of this vicious cycle, you must understand fat burning hormones - Leptin, Ghrelin, Insulin, and Adrenaline and how they play on your metabolism to promote weight gain or weight loss.

What is Ghrelin?

It is a hunger hormone, in other words it’s a hunger stimulator.

In 1999, Dr. Kojima and Kangawa discovered the ghrelin hormone which is a peptide hormone that made with 28 amino acids.

Ghrelin is produced mainly when your stomach is empty.

The purpose of the ghrelin hormone is to make us feel hungry and feed the body fuel.

How does it work in your body?

When your stomach is empty or close to your meal time, your stomach releases the ghrelin hormone and it sends a message to your brain – Hypothalamus makes you feel hungry and increases your appetite and blood sugar levels.

Usually after eating, your ghrelin levels go down so your brain tells you to stop eating.

If your ghrelin levels are higher than normal, you will never feel satisfied or you don’t know when you should stop eating.

Studies have shown that higher the ghrelin hormones increase body fat mass.

Therefore, it is important to lower ghrelin levels to maintain your ideal weight.
